Not sure what you mean by "scares" but I have learned to walk away from it and come back later..sometimes WAY later. You probably already did that though. :) My uncle used to say you should let someone read it (sometimes and someone you trust), to get a different perspective. But frankly, I don't write for others so I don't let people read my stuff. So don't know if it works.
